I’ve always been a big baseball fan. Just ask my kids about my Little League days of glory playing for the Chicago Cubs. The game tying home run to left over the outstretched glove of Greg Templeton and then the bloop single to center (circa Luis Gonzalez – Diamondbacks) to drive in the go-ahead run. Ah, “Memories light the corners of my mind, misty watercolor memories of the way we were. Can it be that it was all so simple then?” (Barbara Streisand 1974)
Jump ahead to 2013 and the start of my janitorial business and the most logical choice for a name would be something baseball related. So I chose “Cleanup Man”, referring to the #4 hitter in the lineup that is expected to get a lot of results in the form of driving in runs. Good choice I thought, you know cleaning – cleanup man – results. All sounded good to me, and let’s make home plate the logo for good measure, and don’t forget our triple crown winning service!
Fast forward again 7 years after adding on carpet cleaning services along with upholstery and tile and grout and I’m rethinking the name. It all started that fateful day when I was perusing one of the professional carpet cleaning Facebook forums I frequent to hone my skills and there it is, “All Things New”, a peers company name based off Revelation 21:5. And I think to myself, so the best you could come up with was Cleanup Man. Right.
So when I decided to add a “doing business as” name I got on my knees and the Lord answered almost immediately with 1 Chronicles 29:11. The rest, as they say, is history. “Above All” was created at that moment and our business identity is tied up into those words. So “What’s it all about, Alfie?” (Dionne Warwick – 1966).
God has a purpose and a plan for our life, and in 1 Chronicles 29 king David is orchestrating the building of a palace for the Lord God. Chock full of timeless lessons, David acknowledges that all the building materials were supplied by the hand of God, and that God is to be exalted as “head above all”.
So what’s in a name? At Cleanup Man LLC & Above All Services we have always been focused on:
